Sophie RICE

My name is Sophie Rice and I am running this November to retain the West Jordan, Utah District 4 City Council seat.  In March of this year I was appointed to fulfill the remainder of Justin Stoker's term which expires in January, and I took my oath of office on April 8, 2015.  I would love to serve a full term representing the good people of West Jordan.

Before being appointed to the City Council I served on the West Jordan Planning Commission and the Design Review Committee.  I am a County Delegate and State Delegate as well as a Precinct Host in Utah's Republican Party.  I also serve as Treasurer for Hayden Peak Elementary's PTA, and as such I am on Hayden Peak Elementary's PTA Executive Board. 

I am a wife, a mother, and concerned citizen.  I recieved my Bachelor's of Science degree from BYU in Sociology, have worked in the Social Work field as a Case Manager and Life Coach for adults with learning disabilities, and I have been a business owner.  

I want to work to improve West Jordan's future with careful planning, deliberate decision-making and adherance to my core principles of honesty, integrity, and respect for the rights of individuals.  We have such an incredible opportunity at our doorstep to  bring in quality developments, thriving businesses and manufacturing, while improving the quality of life for West Jordan's citizens with trails, open space, and amenities.  It takes determined intelligent leadership to aggressively and proactively promote a better West Jordan, and I hope to earn your confidence and trust.
